Stratis Skandalakis (*1980) is a greek audio artist, working at Idee und Klang as a project manager, composer and sound designer since 2010. He began his musical education at the age of nine, studying piano and violin at the Kodaly Conservatory in Athens. He continued his musical education in Germany, studying choral conduction and piano at the vocational school in Dinkelsbühl and holds a Masters Degree in Music from the University of Mainz. He has been leading several Projects for Idee und Klang, Natural History Gallery - King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, Berlin and its Monuments - Spandau Zitadelle. Apart from his activity at Idee und Klang, he is working as a producer, arranger and composer for dance and theatre. One of his passions is Field Recording. He specialises in immersive multichannel Soundscapes with no distinction between traditional composition techniques and extra-musical elements. When not staying in Switzerland, he is somewhere across the globe, exploring remote, unspoiled ecosystems, equipped with his portable recorder and a backpack. He gathers his recordings in an online sound library database with the aim to sensitise the public view about the beauty of sonority in nature and the necessity to preserve it.
