AROS - Acousmatic Room Orchestration System
The acousmatic room orchestration is our approach to design acoustic moods and music for spaces in museums, Expo's or for sound installations.
The associated system called AROS is in opposition to other multichannel systems not a room simulating but a room generating system which leads to a real spatiality.
Like instruments in a orchestra each sound of a composition has it's own speaker and location within the space. The speakers are mostly spread over the whole space, installed in walls, the ceiling, the floor or even in objects. With this approach its possible to reach a high offset in depth for the chosen room.
In a context to history, the AROS was developed following the ideas of the acousmonium that was and still is used to playback electro acoustic music. Idee und Klang enhanced this technique and further developed a special software that allows to move up to 128 sound sources freely in space over up to 128 speakers. |
