 "Beobachter" – musical sound design for an advertisement This commercial for the Swiss consumer magazine ‘Beobachter’ is an example of a custom-made sound track for an advertisement. It functions essentially through its ‘musical’ sound design. We produced the sounds with a water still, from which we let water drip into a half filled round-bottom flask. The quantity of water was varied in order to produce dripping noises at different pitches. The result is an unobtrusive melody, which one hears nearly subconsciously, lending the advertisement a feeling of excitement and drama yet not distracting from the main message.
